Please start a NEW Topic and tell us about yourself by stating the name(s) you are looking for and what efforts you have made to find them on your own.  Of course also tell us which one of the islands you are from or your ancestors are from.

Researching St.  Lucian family trees for Charlemagne + Pascal; and Valmont + Marchaus/Desmangles

Feb 13, 2009 - My name is Mary
I've used the St.  Lucian National Archives (SLNA) for ~10 years, in addition to my families, to gather info. .  it's been very enjoyable, but also often frustrating b/c of lost records, the uses of many differnt known names, and the difficulty w/creating family tree charts to track the "pologmy" - all those out-of-wedlock births, and the often confusing many half-silbings is a big challenge. . .  however, I'm almost finished w/a mega project I started 4 years ago. . .  creating a "Heritage Album" = combining family tree charts + jounraling + photos of family + other historical images (e. g. , photos of slaves) in one (actually now 5!) photo albums/scrapbooks. .  it has ben a labor of love. . .

My name is Cushla and I live in New Zealand.

I have been researching my Irish family FRANKLIN.
Recently I located a 'will' left by my g. g. grandfather John Franklin.  He stated that property in the West Indies was to be divided between his three children.  Since then I have found his marriage took place in St. Croix to Anna KRAUSE in 1809.

Sometime after their marriage they must have left St Croix because there are no records of the births of any of their children on the island.  And they certainly would have been gone before 1815 when the Danish regained control from the British.

John died in Ireland and two of the children married there.

I am hoping to find out when and where the Franklins went from St. Croix .  Where the children were born and where Anna died.
Any ideas or help would be very appreciated.

Cushla

Welcome, have you contacted anyone in St. Croix to find out more?
